One Phoenix community did its part on National Make a Difference Day and set a record in the process.

The housing suburb Verrado set a new record for the nation’s largest potluck Saturday with 1,315 hungry attendees. People came from throughout the Valley to share their dishes in support of the community’s non-profit partnership program, The Giving Tree.

The record was previously held by the fellow Arizona city of Chandler, which set the United States mark with an event at Chandler Christian Church in April 2014. A representative from Guinness World Records was in attendance Saturday to verify the final number.

Money raised from the event will directly benefit The Giving Tree’s 20 local partners, including the Verrado School District and the City of Buckeye Police Department.
