Teacher Accidentally Shares ‘Special Needs’ List With Class

  • The document was for other teachers and administrators to track students with behavioral problems
  • The Paradise Valley School District says the list accidentally shared with a middle school class.
  • Teachers at Explorer Middle School were working on a shared document, listing students who have behavioral issues and several absences.
  • The district says the list was intended to only be seen by guidance counselors
  • The teacher reportedly told the kids to shut down their computers while she deleted it, but some had already taken screenshots
  • Concerned parents think the school should have notified them of the incident
  • Parents say creating a list based off of speculation isn’t fair

“Administration at Explorer Middle School have reviewed protocol and best practices with all staff members and are providing additional training to address these issues.” It also adds, “the safety and well-being our of students and staff is our first priority, and PV Schools can assure you that this issue is being taken seriously and that the appropriate steps are being put in place to prevent this from occurring again.”
