Police investigating threats made to Phoenix area high schools

Police say threats have been made against Cesar Chavez, Maryvale and Carl Hayden. “We are aware of the social media postings and are working with school officials to help ensure everyone’s safety,” said Sergeant Jonathan Howard with the Phoenix Police Department.

  • Study revealed more than one-third of threats are being sent by social media and other electronic communication
  • A new trend of threats by individuals outside of schools who try to distract police from crimes to extract revenge against their rivals

Update:

Police say three juveniles have been arrested in connection with online posts that threatened several Phoenix high schools this week.

They say the threats included nearly two dozen schools in the Phoenix metro area.

The names of the arrested juveniles weren’t released.

Police said Tuesday that the perpetrators could face several felony charges, and the juveniles also could be punished by their schools.
